Wordplay

Madeleine McCann's parents have officially been named suspects in her disappearance. Today the Portuguese police have released a statement providing some of the details as to why they are shifting the investigation toward the parents. They have apparently found DNA sample that is a 100% match to that of the missing four-year-old in the vehicle rented by Kate and Gerry McCann five weeks after she went missing. The have vehemently denied any wrong-doing and maintain their innocence. While I really want to believe them, it's hard not to read into the statement they posted on their website in response to the allegations:

We have absolute confidence that, when all of the facts are presented together, we will be able to demonstrate that we played absolutely no part in Madeleine's abduction - Gerry McCann

This may just be me, but I find his wording interesting. Notice he used abduction and not disappearance.
