Merry Happy

Upon initially hearing her scrumptiously successful second single Foundations, I had written Kate Nash off as destined for one-hit wonderdom. While that's all still a very likely possibility, after listening to her debut album, Made Of Bricks, I hope it isn't the case. She's a teenager and the lyrics and feel of the album convey that. It's simple, fun (and occasionally over-produced) pop with, surprisingly, several great tracks. While I hate to jump on the bandwagon and declare her the next big thing or something of that nature, I will say that I recommend this album. It's a nice blend of Lily Allen and Regina Spektor, so it's likely you'll enjoy this if you like either.

It's due for release tomorrow in the UK. Not sure if she'll be exported across the pond as similar sounding Lily Allen's stateside success hasn't really translated from media hype to album sales.

Recommended tracks: Skeleton Song, We Get On, Pumpkin Soup, Mariella and next single Mouthwash (listen to it using the player below)
