I Ain't Freakin', I Ain't Fakin' This

Okay, I'm freaking out! This has been an overall great day. For starters, I finally secured an apartment in NYC. Then iTunes has The Ting Tings up for grabs for free (for which I made the comment that all they need now is an iPod commercial to get them the mainstream exposure they so rightly deserve), then I found out that I should receive an offer on a new job tomorrow and now I've just learned that the aforementioned The Ting Tings actually have an iPod commercial AND a new song. It's called Shut Up And Let Me Go. Oh, and their highly anticipated (and not just by me) debut LP, We Started Nothing drops on May 20th. I don't think I could take any more good news...check out the new iPod commercial below...

Another Guiltless Download

So Coldplay is following in the steps of Radiohead and NIN and providing their fans with some free music. This time around it is only a song and not the album, but we'll take what we can get, right? Head over HERE to retrieve the free download.

If you're in the US, do yourself a favour and head over to iTunes. RIGHT NOW!!! The Single Of The Week is none other than Great DJ by my favourite band of the moment The Ting Tings.

Be Back Soon

I've been absent far longer than I like; however, the upcoming move has eaten up a lot more of my time than I was anticipating. I've been on several interviews, apartment hunting (although I think I finally have a place, will find out tomorrow) and getting in quality time with friends. And don't even get me started about the packing.

The good news is that if I get this apartment, I should be back to posting on a regular basis as early as late next week.

Sings A Song

Russian Red is a singer from Spain whose latest album is, so far, one of the best this year. Can't find a street date, but Eureka Records will be releasing it. There are many brilliant songs on it, so if you can find it you definitely should buy it. Below is one of my favourites, They Don't Believe...

¡¡Segundo CumpleaƱos!!

Hard to believe that this here blog has been going on for two years now. It was initially a personal journal, but it's slowly shifted into more of a music blog over the past year or so. I'm really much happier with it in it's latest incarnation, as exposing people to new music is far more therapeutic for me than exposing too much of myself.

So I guess what better way to celebrate a music blog's birthday than by posting a song? I don't really have much in the way of birthday music, the closest being the song Birthday by indie artists The Bird And The Bee.

Put Your Records On

My departure date is growing ever closer and I'm nearly finished with my packing, so I am working on posting on a more regular basis.

Today's posting is about a French artist by the name of Barbara Carlotti. I'm not able to find out any information about her in English as they are blocking a lot of sites here at work now. The album, L'ideal, was released in late March. The album's vibe is very French and (for me) conjures of memories of The Triplets Of Belleville (which is a delightful film if you haven't already seen it). Below is one of my favourite tracks from the album, Mademoiselle Opossum

Dying for more? Check her out on MySpace and you'll be treated to additional songs and tour dates. Buy her music via iTunes links below:

Appropriate Bathroom Conversation?

Picture it: The restroom at my office, I'm standing at one of two urinals and a co-worker steps up to the other one (to my left).

Co-Worker: Hey Gringo
Me: Hey
CW: Are you growing?
Me: .....

With A Little Smile

Sorry for being such a YouTube whore as of late, but I'm just too preoccupied right now. Just came across this and felt the need to spread the beauty. The artist is NajWaJean and the song is Crime. Press play, sit back and enjoy.
